Marion Tschantz of the U S army is on furlough with parents Mr and Mrs Irvin Tschantz and will report to Camp Pickett Virginia after arriving from Ft Bliss Texas. Cpl Harvey Sword of the U S Marines was discharged at Great Lakes Illinois after wounded service in Guam and the Marianas Islands and time in Hawaii. Cpl Raymond Berg arrived home from Camp Atterbury Indiana after 32 1 2 years in the 13th Armored Division serving in France and Germany.

Fire Department Responds to North Town Fire
The Dalton Volunteer Fire Department checked a fire a mile north of town on Tuesday morning. After 15 minutes they found the blaze at Owen Witmer's farm. One emergency car investigated a larger house fire but it was extinguished before damage occurred. The notice urges callers to give name and location and lists the department number 2191.

Dalton came from behind to beat Smithville 33 to 30 in the Wayne County Class B final on Saturday night. Dick Fiscus led Dalton with 10 points while Bill Gerber led Smithville with nine. Doylestown won the consolation game 35 to 28 over Apple Creek as Dalton, Smithville and Doylestown advance to the district at Ashland.

Mrs. Louis Hare 66 of RD 2 died Sunday at her daughter Mrs Charles Lauber's Dover home after a six month illness. Born in Switzerland she came to the United States 59 years ago. Survived by husband Louis Hare two daughters Mrs Karl Wetterauer RD 3 Canton and Lester RD 2 Dalton one son four grandchildren two sisters eight brothers and services held Wednesday at 2 30 p m in her home with Rev M W Radcliffe of Dover officiating Desvoignes in charge.
