Wheat Stolen from Granary Near Town
Twenty bushels of sacked wheat were stolen from the granary of Mrs. Annie Rudy, a mile east of town, on Friday night. Officials investigated but found no clue. Mrs. Rudy reported her watchdog died of poison a week earlier. The grain was moved from the barn to the crossroad south of the Lincoln highway where a truck had been parked.

Cold snap ends weeks of milder winter with heavy crust
Temperatures dropped Tuesday night to near zero and stayed very cold into Wednesday. Snow flurries occurred last week with milder days, and Friday brought the heaviest snowfall of the season followed by rain that froze, creating a thick crust.
Dalton high advances to semi finals after overtime win
Dalton high defeated Creston 21 to 19 in overtime to reach the semi finals against Sterling at Wooster high school on Friday. Dalton trailed 18 to 7 after three quarters, then rallied with a late surge and held Creston scoreless in the final period.

Shiloh Veteran Albert Hummel Dies at 94
Albert Hummel, 94, Civil War veteran who fought at Shiloh and was wounded, died Tuesday at the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors' Home in Sandusky. He lived near Jericho as a boy, worked as a tinsmith in Mt. Eaton, and will be buried in Westlawn Cemetery after Thursday services at the Fraze homestead. He was cousin to Mrs. Howard Jameson and Mrs. Clara Tracy.
