Dalton fire crews rushed to the Milton Berg home just north of town at 8 50 Sunday morning. The blaze spread rapidly between the second floor floor and ceiling but was controlled by firefighters. Had it started an hour later the family would have been at Sunday school and the house likely destroyed.
A six year bond issue of six thousand dollars to rebuild Frog Pond school will be decided at a special election March 18 in Mt. Eaton. Wayne county welfare efforts remain solid under C. R. Maine with no acute relief crisis. Legal notice calls for claims by March 22 on Route 30 East Union grade crossing elimination. project to add a three lane roadway is hinted but not specified.
Mrs. Mary Flory age 81 10 mo 5 days widow of Franklin Flory died Sunday night at 11 50 following a long illness at her West Main Street home. Born Sugar Creek township Stark county she belonged to St Pauls Evangelical and Reformed Mt. Eaton for 60 years. Survived by son Walter Flory of Mount Eaton five daughters Mrs John Kurzen Salisbury Md Miss Mae Flory at home Mrs Clyde Haines Columbus Miss Jennie Flory Canton and Mrs Dewey McDowell Orrville two brothers John Wurtz Clinton and Daniel Wurtz Navarre ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the home and at St Pauls Mt. Eaton with Rev S J T Flohr officiating Burial in West Lawn cemetery Mt. Eaton. Harris W. Desvoignes in charge of arrangements.
The Brotherhood of the Dalton and Burton City Methodist churches sponsor a Father and Son banquet this Thursday at 7 o clock in the Dalton Methodist social rooms. Dinner costs 60 cents per plate. A speaker will give a talk and a musical program will follow.

Breaks leg while hauling logs Tuesday when a small tree toppled on Irvin Geiser 25 of Sonnenberg. He was taken to Massillon City Hospital and his leg placed in a cast.
Next Monday March 3 marks the 20th anniversary of the Rotary Club in Wooster with a gala observed by Dal ton Rotarians. Supper at 6:30 in the M E church precedes a program led by Arthur Sapp of Huntington Ind former president of Rotary International. All 154 clubs in the district are expected to attend.
If Senate Bill 96 passes, $60,000 in auto license funds currently allotted to the county for roads and bridges would be diverted to cities. Commissioners and county engineer Walter Metzler warn this would handicap maintenance of 498 miles of roads and 3,500 bridges and culverts, a prospect viewed with grave alarm.
Dalton will play Doylestown next Saturday night at 9 for the County Class B Championship. Dalton defeated Shreve last Wednesday and Apple Creek 40 34 in the semifinals. Doylestown defeated Sterling 41 39 in the semifinals. County Supt. Hathaway visited Dalton yesterday.
