Sugar Creek Grange met at the VFW Hall on Thursday night February 20. Carl Hanenstein read a Columbus legislative communication about grange sponsored bills. Members voted $5 gifts to Heart Fund CARE and the Hard of Hearing Project and canvassing for the Cancer Society was requested.

Youth Injured In Cement Mixer Incident At Local Firm
Jerry Bider son of Mr and Mrs Robert Bixler an LB Stone Co employee in Apple Creek was hurt last week washing a cement mixer. A hose tangled in the agitator pulled him into the mixer. He was taken by Apple Creek Emergency Squad to Wooster Community Hospital and later to Akron City Hospital in serious condition today.

Barn Fire Destroys Swartzentruber Farm at Night
A Sam Swartzentruber bank barn on Route 241 near Wayne County edge east of West Lebanon burned Saturday at 7 40 p m. Firefighters from Mt Eaton Kidron Dalton North Lawrence and Navarre battled the blaze as rain hampered the effort. Owner saved livestock and outbuildings. total losses not disclosed.

Phil Schlabach, a sixth grader and son of Mr and Mrs Leroy Schlabach, won first place at Kidron Elementary School spelling contest by spelling appreciation. Lucille Geiser, a fifth grader and daughter of Mr and Mrs Wilson Geiser, finished second and received a dictionary. Judges were Faye Gerber and Freeman Lehman.
