V F W Post Assists WWII Ohio Bonus Applicants

Dalton Post 5534 VFW will help World War II veterans file Ohio bonus applications. Beginning March 1 the Dalton Town Hall will be open 6 to 9 P M Monday through Friday to collect discharge papers and service records. Two Cars Wrecked On Church Road Collision In Rural West

An auto smashup occurred Monday at about 7 PM on Church road forty miles west of Martin's Church. Jimmy Miller and Leroy Wenger collided while traveling west. Miller's car turned over and landed in a field. Wenger's was badly damaged. Miller had a forehead bump and Wenger was shaken. The wrecked vehicles were taken to Haverstock and Davis and Domer Chevrolet garages.

Polio Fund Receives 511.83 From Dalton Area Donations

Financial report shows amounts raised for the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis in Dalton and nearby communities. Donations came from Dalton schools house to house solicitation boxes in business places direct to Wooster veterans organizations Rotary Club and more. Contributions may be sent to Wooster headquarters or Paul Schultz.

Carnival Week at Dalton Memorial Field July 8 9

The 1948 season opens with a carnival and homecoming at Dalton Memorial Field on July 8 and 9 sponsored by Dalton Post 5534 Veterans of Foreign Wars. A Chevrolet Aerosedan and a GE refrigerator are given away with proceeds funding a Post home building fund for community use.

Dalton Wins Semi to Reach Wayne County Class B Final

Dalton defeated Shreve 40 to 31 in a hard fought semi final at Wooster Tuesday night to advance to the finals against Ashland. Evans scored 20 points and Steiner contributed for the Dalton squad.

Orrville man dies of heart attack at theatre

Joyce Brenneman 41 of Orrville died last Thursday forenoon of a heart attack while working as eye to actian at Orr theatre. His wife Estella Steiner was beside him. Survivors include wife two sons Philip and Charles mother Mrs S E Brenneman sister Ruth Hartshorne brother Paul all of Orrville. Services were held at the Steiner home Saturday Feb 21 1948 at 2 30 p.m. Daniel Kratzer of Canton read the Christian Science Service. Burial in Crown Hill cemetery.

County Housing Funds Pay Architect Fees for Veteran Homes

Ohio law allows county commissioners to spend veterans housing funds on architect plans and supervision of construction for temporary emergency housing for veterans. Attorney General Hugh S. Jenkins ruled this past week that such expenditures are authorized from the veterans housing fund.
