Dalton high school vocational agriculture students join National FFA Week with activities titled Agriculture Is More Than Farming. Students plan a public information campaign on farming's importance and career opportunities. Local Brownies visited Shady Lawn to deliver valentines, and Troop 891 sold 600 boxes of Girl Scout cookies while planning sit-upons for summer camp.

Lucille Wenger a seventh grade student and fifth in her family to win the local spelling contest will represent Dalton in the Wayne county portion of the Akron Beacon Journal spelling contest. The district contest at Wooster Edgewood junior high school on April 1 will send five top spellers to the Akron finals on May 6. Lucille won by spelling senators after Keith Smith faltered then spelled wholly. other contestants were Linda Matz Bruce Aber Judy Fitzwater and Robin Berg. Lucille received a dictionary while the others got a dollar. Pronouncer Carl B Gift and judges Mrs Yeaman and Mr Kirchhofer oversaw the event with Mrs Parris in charge.

The Bulldogs beat Triway 94 66 on Friday night at Triway to finish the season strong. Randy Nussbaum led with 21 points while Mark Berg and Bobby Zuercher added 24 and 5.
