Students in a patriotic drive report total War Bond and Stamp sales of $9,904.65 against a $5,000 goal. Marybelle Groff and Kathleen Baer provided the figures. Bond sales totaled $9,721.00 with stamp sales at $183.65, for the fourth War Loan drive.
A county wide meeting of Red Cross workers will be in the Wooster courthouse on Monday evening February 28 at 7 45. A repeat session is set for Tuesday February 29 in the Orrville high school auditorium at the same time with Red Cross films to be shown.
Dalton High defeated Burbank 50 to 17 in the opening game then fell to Chester 38 to 27 in the semi finals Tuesday afternoon. They will face Sterling in the consolation round Saturday February 26 at 2 30 p.m.
Miss Dorothy Scott was one of the debaters at the contest in Kent Saturday. Mrs. Kenneth Peach of Savannah visited the De A R Keirn home. Dr. A R Keirn shows improvement and Scott's Store displays new stationery samples.
Sunday guests visit families including the Mosers and Lawsons while Patrick Seager attends a Wayne County Home Economics meeting. A new daughter arrives to Dallas Johnson and wife in East Greenville. Levi Zaugg buys property in North Lawrence for 7150 dollars at public sale. Mrs Gardner returns from Massillon City Hospital post surgery. Families Goudy and Sommer entertain at Kidron.
G. P. Leitner led the Monday Rotary program and delivered an engaging talk on the Founder of Rotary. Vernon F. Hoobler served as presiding officer.
Miss Vivian Douglas a Wooster College freshman serves on the business crew aiding the campus production Shubert Alley to be staged March 2 3 and 4 on the Wooster campus.
Seaman Leslie Sandwith is home on furlough. William Williams Jr USNR V-12 at Harvard is home for a few days. Pfc Roy E Ramph stationed at Camp Gordon Ga is home on leave. Former Mayor Clarence Kraus has been heard from after seven or eight weeks. He is in the Pacific with Tokyo as the ultimate destination.
Miss Joan Marie Cheney and Carl W. Streb wed at St Timothy’s Church Massillon on February 19 with Dr John R Stalker officiating. The couple plans to reside in Massillon after a Chicago honeymoon.
Merlin Berg will address the Methodist church next Sunday evening at 8 oclock. He will recount his experiences with an Ohio Division in the Southwest Pacific. The public is invited.
The 1944 auto license goes on sale March 1 at McDowell's Hardware. Plates may be used immediately after purchase.
Blue Star Service group met at the high school with 20 members in attendance. Mrs. D. R. McAfee presided. thank you letters from soldiers were read. A doughnut pastry and food sale was set for Saturday April 8 the day before Easter. The program included a current events paper by Mrs. Ray Camp a quiz by Mrs. Dale Goudy and an article on Remember His Furlough by Mrs. Earl Locke.
Mrs Dale Scott weekends in Youngstown with Mr and Mrs Harry Wyre while Mrs Robert Goudy and daughter Sherry head to San Francisco for stay as ACM 3¢ Goudy is in port.
