An emergency ordinance approved February 14 details resurfacing Route 94 within village limits except the Route 39 portion. The village pays $90 for the within village section and maintains it, while the state handles the rest. Other actions set street clerk wages, gas company rates, and a gasoline bid from Dalton Shell, with updates and debates on sewer surcharge and salary ordinance. Police annual report notes 391 calls in 1971.
Dalton Board of Public Affairs met February 16 to approve a policy effective March 15 1972. All existing 3/4 inch or smaller service lines will receive one minimum monthly meter charge unless property owners install separate meters for apartment units. Fire hydrants will be flushed regularly on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays each month. The discussion also covered department finances and the salary ordinance, referred for clarification. Proceeds support council operations and camp programs at Great Trail Camp Camp Sandosda Golden Sunrise Raeder’s Ranch and Camp Lycopedia. Scouts earn 20 cents per package toward their summer camp fees. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
