School board votes to place 6.3 mile levy on May ballot

Tax Office Closes for Vacation in Dalton Village
Dalton's Village Tax Office will be closed for vacation until March 1. The tax return deadline is April 30, 1973 and the first 1973 estimate payment is due then. Regular hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the village hall across from First National Bank.

Dale Scott Attends Columbia Gas Service Training
Dale Scott of 505 E Main St Millersburg attended a one day service training class at the Alliance Division service center in Alliance. The program covers appliances safety practices and procedures as part of a state wide field training series in 19 Ohio towns introduced by Columbia Gas of Ohio. Cub Pack 22 Wins First in Muskingum District Display
Dalton Cub Pack 22 salutes Scout Anniversary month by winning the Muskingum District display award. The window display at Dalton Appliance Center showcased Cub Scouting skills, crafts and activities with the theme Cub Scouting Is Fun. The unit will host a Blue and Gold Banquet February 22 at 6 00 p.m. at the VFW Hall.

Bulldogs Finish Strong in 11-3 League Run
Dalton Bulldogs closed the 1972-73 Wayne County League with a 67-57 win over Hillsdale to finish second in the league at 11-3 and 12-6 overall. Jim West 20 points Ned Drew 19 Ketler 15 led scorers as Dalton built a 34-26 halftime edge after a tight first quarter.

Dalton Village Regulates Recreation Vehicles
Dalton village council held first reading on a new ordinance regulating recreation vehicles such as mini bikes trail bikes and snowmobiles. Vehicles must have muffler head and taillights stop light and brake system riders need helmet eye protection and landowner written permission with registration to police. Riding forbidden 8 p m to 3 a m. First offense up to 25 dollars second offense 25 to 50 dollars. State law requires licensing of all such vehicles from January 1973. Council also addressed expenditures and lease actions including 1500 for testing equipment at the semple disposal plant 3942 for a water line project and a 1 yearly lease for the 19396 Reo Fire Truck to the Dalton Volunteer Fire Department.

Dalton hosts Wayne County music festival day
The Wayne County Solo and Ensemble Festival was held in Dalton with 418 entries from county schools. About 1,300 students participated in three divisions and judges from Orrville Brunswick Wooster Kent Elyria evaluated vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles. Dalton students hosted and organized the event with committee members and volunteers supporting scores, rooms, and program logistics.
