Students and teachers launch pupil tutoring reading plan
In Dalton, Mrs. Gue and Mr. Yeaman inaugurate a pupil tutoring program for third and sixth graders with support from Principal Harold Smith and teachers Mrs. Sohar and Mrs. Ickes. Weekly sessions pair tutors with younger readers to practice vocabulary, word attack skills, and comprehension.

Dan Buchwalter, aged eighty seven, lifelong farmer from Dalton, reflects on a life spanning seven presidencies. He recalls family roots dating to 1850, Civil War relatives, and two generations of farming on his land with son Carl nearby. He and Winnie enjoy travel and community events, with 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The First National Bank of Dalton will close Saturday February 22 to honor George Washington's birthdate.

The Bulldogs edged the Northwestern Huskies 47 to 46 on their floor to end the season strong. Renner scored 16 as Dalton led the team from start to finish, with a 29 20 halftime edge and a 12 7 first quarter. Woodruff grabbed 18 rebounds as Dalton battled six more turnovers than the Huskies, while the reserves fell 31 24.

Dalton High School Home Economics I IV students presented a pair of cultural meals. On February 3 a Hawaiian feast featured leis and luau dishes with a tropical table setting. February 4 a Chinese customs and culture briefing showcased floor seating, dress, and traditional foods.
Congregation Extends Call to Rev Ralph Fogal to Be Pastor
The Presbyterian Church voted to call Rev Ralph Fogal of Westland Michigan as pastor. Mrs Fogal and children Sylvia and Paul will relocate to Dalton April 15. Russell Dague and Carl Hauenstein were chosen to represent the session and congregation at Wooster Presbytery. Dr J Earl Jackman to speak on The Gold Standard February 23 at 10 40 worship.
