Residents announce aims to start early in spring with a lighted ball ground by Decoration Day open to all organizations. They plan swings teeter totters merry go rounds tennis courts horse shoe courts shuffle board two fireplaces and two tables per fire place plus a covered picnic shelter by Elmer Haney inviting ideas from the community.
A call invites everyone to a World Day of Prayer service on Friday February 21 1947 at 8 pm in the Methodist Church. A mixed chorus directed by Victor Gerber will perform special music. The event emphasizes universal remembrance with love across races and denominations.
Regular meeting scheduled for Monday night February 24 invites new members to join. Membership to date stands at 78. Com.

Walter Horst aged 33 died Saturday at Molly Stark Sanatorium after a year as patient. Born March 18 1913 in Canton he was the son of Amos and Nona Horst. Survived by widow Bernice two daughters Marjorie Judy Canton mother Nona Horst Canton sisters Mrs Douglas Snyder Orrville Zetta Horst Canton brother Verle Canton. Funeral Tuesday 2 p.m. at Dalton Methodist Church Rev Lester E Flauhaus officiating burial Dalton Cemetery Monbarren Funeral Home in charge.
H A Douglas, 76, died Wednesday around noon as reports reached the press. No funeral plans announced.
Miss Virginia Hammond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Hammond of Brewster, married William Tyrrell of this place in a Brewster Methodist ceremony performed by Rev. Wilbur E. Geist. The bride wore ivory satin and lace with a long train and carried a New Testament topped with a white orchid. The reception followed at the Hammond home for 100 guests. The couple will reside in Dalton after a trip. Mrs Tyrrell is a Oberlin School of Commerce graduate and works for Wheeling and Lake Erie in Brewster. Tyrrell is an assistant cashier at The First National Bank after three years service.

John Arney purchases the John J. Hershberger farm west of Apple Creek and plans relocation this spring. The Dalton fire company responded to a chimney fire at the S. M. Stein Residence on West Main Street Tuesday, quickly dousing shingles ablaze with $200 in damage. A birthday dinner for Clarence L. Kraus was held Tuesday with many relatives from Canton, Stow, Salem, Orrville, DeLand, and Akron attending Mrs. Regina Feasel’s funeral hosted by Mrs. Alina Williams.
Miss Blanche Nussbaum daughter of Mr and Mrs John Nussbaum of Dalton wed Harold Garver son of Mrs Susan Garver and the late Howard Garver of Beech City in a Dalton Presbyterian church parsonage ceremony on Friday February 14 at 10 A M Rev E W Spence officiated. The bride wore a pink wool dress with grey accessories. After a reception at the bride’s parents home the couple left for a South honeymoon and will reside with the groom’s mother in Beech City.
Anthony V. B. Owens aged 72 formerly of this place died Tuesday morning at his Massillon residence. He is survived by his widow Nettie and three sons with no funeral arrangements. Howard L. Farmer aged 61 of Canton and a former Dalton resident died Monday at Mercy hospital Canton after a heart attack. He leaves his widow Grace and one daughter Mrs Carl Vetter of Canton. Funeral Thursday at 1 PM from Schneeberger Funeral Home Canton.
Mrs. Willis Badertscher was transported by Monbarren's ambulance on Saturday to the Cleveland Clinic for observation and treatment. She is expected to stay a week to ten days. Roderick Spence of Los Alamos, New Mexico visits his parents Rev. and Mrs. E. W. Spence. he works as a government scientist on atomic bomb research.
