An addendum clarifies the corner block’s origins. John Fleck began construction in the 1860s, laying the foundation and completing the frame before selling to W. H. H. Wertz who finished the building with a roof for an Odd Fellows lodge room. Ira Johnson, hardware dealer, is noted among later occupants.
The Village Council met last Friday with Mayor Mumaw presiding. Bills were approved. W S Halbert was appointed to fill the unexpired term of F W Hunsicker who resigned. Earl Reitz was named village solicitor and John M Dowell became fire chief.
The Community Club moves its next meeting to Thursday night February 27 in place of February 20. Other notes include local travels by Ira Tullis Elmer Haney and Elmer Martin purchasing land on North Church Street planning a spring house. Judge Rutherford to lecture Separating The Nations February 23 at 3 PM with WJAY and WAIU listed as stations. Local fire response to Snyder Garage V-8 fire. no other damages. Forty five attend rural mail carriers steak dinner in M E basement with remarks by Ross Orr Rev Patterson and performances by Junior Richard Steiner and Elmo Hooley.
Senior girls staged the one act play Where Are Those Men with a Gettysburg Address tribute for Lincoln's birthday. Dalton High teams posted several wins and OT defeat to Mt. Eaton, while Wayne County Class B tourney at Wooster looms with Dalton facing Burbank. Lincoln birthday chapel featured grades three and four with recitations songs and solo performances.
The Community Sale on Saturday under Emerson Hostetter drew a crowd at Dalton and sold much merchandise including consignments from local merchants. A fiction note mentions a double crosser meeting a girl in The American Weekly. Snowstorm hits area with heavy snowfall turning streets into canals and freezing travel conditions for days.

The Y W class of the Presbyterian S met Thursday evening at Mrs J N Moser home with ten members and five guests. Mrs Jotham Rees led devotions and business. Valentines games and contests were led by Mrs Harold Davis and Mrs Raymond Wecht with Mrs Chas Ressler as prize winner. A covered dish luncheon followed at 11 p m.
Dalton residents hear about a Rod and Gun club gathering at the Dalton Paint Shop on Tuesday February 24 at 7 30 PM. Postmaster Loyd Poor attends a district postmasters banquet in Wooster.
Mrs John Huntsberger remains in Massillon city hospital as of now. The Heatwole child recovered from bronchitis after a week of illness. Local residents J R Martin Emory Susan Martin Cora visited Sam Lehman Sunday afternoon. Multiple families visited Aaron Zimmerman home Rev and Mrs David Wenger and others attended Allen Horst’s 74th birthday dinner at Henry G Horst’s property.
Infant Harris Edwin Gerber son of Otto and Lia Gerber of Kidron Ohio dies the same day he was born in Massillon city hospital. Survived by his parents grandparents and many relatives. Funeral services were held at home February 11 conducted by Rev. I J Buchwalter. Interment Sonnenberg cemetery.
P. O. notice states the Dalton Post Office will close after 9 30 a m on Saturday February 22 in observance of Washington's Birthday.
