Early Morning Fire Affects Daltons West Main Home

Fire at the W. S. Halbert residence on West Main street started between the ceiling and floor above the kitchen. Mr Halbert and his wife raised the alarm as C R McDowell and son Bud responded with a chemical extinguisher. Short circuit cited. damage about 150 dollars.

About 40 guests attended from Orrville Dalton Brewster and surrounding community. A chicken dinner was served by the hostess who also received several gifts. The YW class of the Presbyterian church held a St Valentine’s party at Mrs. Harold Davis’s home last Thursday. Fire Chief Overcomes House Fire Near Kidron Alone

Levi Amstutz of the Kidron telephone exchange battled a blaze in an abandoned residence east of Kidron using burning sacks and water. A windblown door trapped him after he moved burning items outside, and he later faced a upstairs fire he extinguished before help could arrive. Kidron lacks a direct alarm line and could not summon a hose crew in time.

Live Wire Auctioneer In Auto Crash Near Can ton

At about 10 am on Saturday Cy Sttinger, a local auctioneer, was in a minor auto collision while en route to Canton. His car struck a truck head on in a narrow snowy cut east of John Brenners, causing minor leg injuries to Cy but no serious harm to others.

Farmers Meeting in Sugar Creek Township

Farmers in Sugar Creek township and nearby communities are urged to attend a meeting at the Dalton high school building next Tuesday evening February 25 at 8 o'clock. Ladies Quilt Surprise for Salem's Church Group

Insured Ladies to about 35 surprised Mrs A Ro Ketser on Friday with a quilt from the Ladies Sewing Society of Salems church. They made two quilts that evening, one embroidered by Junior Endeavorers in 1924. Guests included Mrs Ernest Scott Mrs Dan Schneck and others. The event followed a planned visit by Rev Keiser and brother Milton Tschantz but was postponed due to illness. Dinner was served cafeteria style as Valentine gifts arrived.

Women’s Missionary Society Meets at Mrs Frantz Home

The Women’s Missionary Society gathered Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. David Frantz hosting and Mrs. Schultz leading devotions. Mrs. Clyde Camp sang, Mrs. Mumaw reviewed a study chapter, and participants joined in a lively discussion. A covered dish supper followed, and the group will meet in March at Mrs. W. A. Mumaw’s home.

Mrs DO H Johnson hosted 18 Class No 9 members of the M E S S on Tuesday evening at a Valentine rug. Mrs Hunsicker led devotions, a duet by Mrs Gano and Mrs McFarren, a reading by Mrs Chiles.
