Muskingum Wins Ohio State Oratorical Contest
The state oratorical contest for Ohio was held at Muskingum College New Concord last Friday evening with eight colleges participating. Muskingum’s A B Cunningham won first place and will represent Ohio in the interstate contest at Wooster in May. Hiram College took second in a close contest and Beery of Wooster earned fourth honors. Eleven states will compete for final honors. this marks the third time in five years Muskingum has won first place.

Walton Resident Christian Wertz Stricken By Stroke
Mr. Christian S. Wertz an octogenarian lifelong Walton resident suffered a paralysis stroke last Saturday morning. The attack affected his tongue leaving him unable to talk and rendered his right arm useless. He has recovered somewhat and authorities hope for a full recovery.

Child Scalded in Home Accident Near Town
A three year old son of Mr and Mrs Henry Kornhaus residing two miles southeast of town fell into a large bucket of scalding water left on the floor Saturday afternoon. The child suffered severe burns with convulsions and recovery is feared doubtful according to Orrville Courier-Crescent.

Stark county pioneer D H Baughman died of pneumonia Monday night at 11 at his son William's home south of Massillon. He was 86 and survived by nine children thirty two grandchildren and thirty nine great grandchildren. He had been bedridden for one week and was well known in the Massillon area.
