Mayor Kate Slusser opens the Girl Scout cookie sale with Brenda Jones and Debbie Lowe watching. A new Pixies cookie replaces the four flavor sandwich, to be delivered in the week of March 27. Prices rise slightly to fund future camp facility expansion amid growing applications.
The Sugarcreek Homemakers will meet February 21 at 8:00 p am in the Presbyterian church. Mrs Cletus Gerber and John Hostetler will conclude the discussion on Knowing What to Wear. The group will present a seasonal craft and demonstrate how to do it. Programs are open to all area ladies.
Plans for a fall wedding are announced by Mr and Mrs Glenn Sears of R D 1 Dalton for their daughter Cynthia Sears and Randall McElroy son of Mr and Mrs Melvin McElroy of R D 2 Dalton Sears a senior at Dalton High School McElroy a 1966 Orrville High School graduate is in the U S Army and will be stationed at Ard Commis sal Base in Miami Florida after basic at Fort Benning Georgia

Fischnich son of Mr and Mrs Harold L Fischnich 139 East Main Dalton completed 14 weeks of advanced individual training at Ft Carson Colo He trained in artillery procedures maintenance of guns and equipment forward observing and fire direction control Two weeks covered leadership map and compass reading camouflage and cold weather operations
Funeral services for David L. Zuercher 86 will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Salem Mennonite church. He died Monday night at Shady Lawn rest home after four months illness. He lived on farm R. D. 1 Dalton since 1917. Survived by wife Lillie Springer Guercher, two daughters Margaret Kerstetter and Della Bach, three sons Eldon Dennis Victor Edmund Rollin Harrison, two sisters and one brother, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Burial in church cemetery. Rev Heinz Janzen will officiate. Calling hours were held Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9.

Ruth Haney Livens parger daughter of the late Dr and Mrs J C Haney broke her shoulder recently. On January 29 her oldest grandson who was married last Thanksgiving day was burned to death in a house trailer fire. Ruths address is No 3 River Drive 500 West Third St Elyria Ohio 44035. The Frank Steiner family gathered at the Steiner home N Mill St for supper Sunday evening honoring Frank s birthday anniversary which was on Friday. Mr and Mrs Donald Indorf of Dalton R D 2 are announcing the engagement of their daughter Glenda to Donald Howard Wyckoff son of Mr and Mrs Howard Wyckoff of Mannington West Virginia. Indorf a Dalton High graduate in 1965 is a secretary in purchasing at Hagan Controls Corporation in Orrville. Wyckoff served in the Army three years after graduation from Mannington High School. He works at Hagan Controls and attends drafting school in Canton.
U S Congressman Charles A Vanik of the 21st Ohio District will be principal speaker at the 112th annual Jackson Bay banquet to be held at Northwestern high school on Thursday Feb 23 at 7 p m Willard Groff and Reuben Teiner of Dalton have tickets for sale.
Veryl Bach posted 613 to lead the 600 class after games of 213 210 and 190. Gene Grim was runner up with 584 and Norm Schlabach 574. Gonter Kurzen top singles with 225, Bowers third at 217. numerous players surpassed 500. Grim led the series 2753, Bach Bros 2720, Bergs IGA 2606. Bach Bros 957 topped singles with Grim 943 and V F W 937.
The Dalton PTA will meet Thursday at 8 p m in an open session for members and non members. Rev Robert Richardson of Dalton Methodist Church will give devotions and discuss the Akron University speech department play This is the House that Jack Built. Refreshments will be served after the business meeting by the third and fourth grades.
Rev Robert Richardson of Dalton Methodist will preach on Growth and Development in Sin or Righteousness using James 1 13 21 and I Peter 1 10 to 3 with evening Bible study on the same passages, ongoing Sundays until Easter. Senior high MYF attends Christian Sex Education at 7 pm at the Presbyterian church with Guidance counselor Neds Biggs as speaker.
The Women's sewing group from Pleasant View Mennonite Church met at Mrs. Ella Hooley's home with 16 members and five children. Devo tions led by Mrs. Cyrus Singer featured "Love Builds A Sense of Missions" from Luke 10. Ten garments and three quilts were completed.
Dalton council discusses a broad hazards and nuisance ordinance at first reading focusing on lights, trees, weeds etc. The group plans study and votes next two meetings while ordering Ohio Edison to test mercury lights of varying lumens downtown to gauge future lighting.
The Bulldogs beat Norwayne 69 57 to close the regular season and finish second in the WCL after losses to Northwestern and Triway. Berg led with 28 points followed by Zuercher 14 Nussbaum 11 Oswald and Hoff 7. Dalton JV defeated Bobcat JV 50 30. Bulldogs open tournament Friday at 7 pm in Grant St gym against Black River 12 6.
The second Sunday in Lent will be observed at the Presbyterian church with the pastor preaching on The Plumb-Line from Amos. The adult choir directed by Mrs Gene Grim and accompanied by Mrs Gerald Hackett will sing the anthem. A Lenten prayer breakfast is at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday and Bible study at 8:15 p.m. at the manse.
