School Menu for February Weekdays

Monday February 19 features macaroni and cheese with buttered green beans peanut butter sandwich pineapple ring a homemade cookie and milk. Tuesday February 20 offers meat salad sandwich french fries buttered peas apple sauce cinnamon coffee cake and milk. Wednesday February 21 serves hamburger gravy mashed potatoes lettuce salad bread and butter ice cream cup and milk. Thursday February 22 includes browned fish square tartar sauce or catsup buttered mixed vegetables celery sticks bread and butter pear half frosted brownie and milk. Friday February 28 presents hamburg on bun pickles onions potato chips buttered corn carrot sticks fruit cocktail and milk.

Trumpet in the Land auditions announced for 4th season

Trumpet in the Land Ohio outdoor drama posts audition schedule for actors singers dancers and technicians. Open to the public auditions run 11 am to 4 pm on February 24 at Kent State University and February 25–28 at Ohio University Cleveland Bowling Green Cincinnati and Columbus venues with additional dates March 2 and 3 in New York City. Rehearsals begin June 11 with performances July 3 through September 2 at Schoenbrunn Amphitheatre New Philadelphia.

Bulldogs host Hillsdale in league final this week

Dalton hosts Hillsdale in the season finale as it fights for a share of the WCL crown after a 71-66 win over Northwestern. Rittman can clinch a share if Dalton loses and Norwayne’s results hold, with Hillsdale visiting in Friday action.

Dalton Language Club hosts Brazilian exchange student

The Modern Language Club at Dalton High welcomed Maria Christina Braga a 17 year old from Sao Paulo Brazil attending Rittman High as a junior. She lives in Sao Paulo with 8 million residents attends a private school of 800 girls and plans to stay in the United States until July sponsored by a religious organization. Christina described Brazilian customs dating engagement views and Saturdays socials while noting swimming pools soccer and rice and beans. The group also set plans for the Mardi Gras on March 31 and listed advisers Mrs Norris and Margaret Snyder.

The Dalton Rotary Club sponsors a Spaghetti Sip at Dalton Junior High Cafeteria on Saturday February 17 from 4 30 to 7 00. Tickets: Adults 1 50 Students 6 to 12 1 00 Children free. Proceeds aid community projects.

Navy and Marine Corps Recruiting Branch Opens in Massillon

The Navy and Marine Corps Recruiting Branch Stations held a grand opening on Saturday February 3 at 43 North and NE Massillon. Mayor Mark Rosa cut the ribbon as John Adams Bland provided music and an American Legion Color Guard attended. The first enlistee from Massillon was Kerras L. Newman who took the oath of enlistment at the ceremony. Interested locals from Dalton area were urged to contact recruiters George Shultz or Larry Gerhart for Marine or Navy careers.

VFW Auxiliary Plans Bake Sale In Dalton

VFW Auxiliary to Post 5534 met at the Post Home in Dalton with 12 members. A bake sale is planned for April 21 at Berg's IGA Foodliner. March 8 meeting features a Nickle-A-Nibble dinner at 6 30 p m. Obituary of C V Clark Co. V Clark 73 Dalton resident

C V Clark Co V Clark 73 of 319 N Church Dalton died Tuesday morning Feb 6 at Wayne General Hospital. Services were held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Monbar ren Funeral Home with Rev Ralph G Fogal and Rev Glenn M Lauder officiating. Burial was in Dalton Cemetery. He retired from Republic Steel in Massillon and belonged to Local 1124 USW. Survived by wife Marie Masters two sons James L and Clair E both of Dalton eight grandchildren and sister Mrs Ruth Masters of Akron. Two brothers and a sister died previously.

Twins Carol Sue and Cheryl Lou Hunter Named Dean's List

Twin sisters Carol Sue and Cheryl Lou Hunter of Route 1 Dalton earned Dean's List honors at Capital University in Columbus. The distinction required full-time enrollment and at least a 3.4 semester GPA. About 20 percent of Capital University students made the honor roll in the fall term.
