Thomas Cully Dies Suddenly in Florida
The community mourns the sudden death of Thomas Cully in DeLand Florida from a stroke. Born March 6 1844 in Wayne County he served in the Civil War and lived much of his life in Dalton. He was active in church, temperance and education and leaves two daughters, Mrs. Weaver and Miss Margaret Cully, plus a long line of relatives. Funeral services were held at the Dalton Presbyterian Church with many out of town relatives attending.

Ground broken for Wertz's brick block in Beaver Dam
Twenty five years ago on February 9 1893 Beaver Dam marked a high water level and on February 16 the first ground for Wertz's new brick block was broken Easter was set for April 2 Mr and Mrs George Slusser left for Dayton for two weeks and Dalton Post 618 G A R was instituted in Harper's hall with charter members listed among local veterans.

Paul Zygalof, a Russian, was arrested at Orrville by Marshal Youngblood for disloyal utterances. He was taken to Cleveland on federal order after papers suggesting he could not be forced to fight were found on him. A fireman on the C A & C railroad, he studied at Ohio Wesleyan and speaks seven languages.
