Missoula Weather Letter From 1907 Storms and Frozen Temperatures

A Missoula Montana letter describes a severe winter with 20 below in January and 40 below in Helena, heavy snow the deepest since 1888, railway disruptions on the Northern Pacific, coal shortages but ample wood, and sleigh riding resumed. Letter From the South Describes a 14 Year Old Orphan’s Prayer

A Muskogee style orphans letter from Mannboro Virginia dated January 28 1907 to Homer Jameson recounts a 14 year old boy named William Greek living with grandparents who have died. He attends Mrs Thompkins private school and Sabbath school at her home. The family lacks a church or school building and asks for prayers to build one.

Montrose Counci Banquet Marks Second Annual O U A M Event

The Jr O U A M banquet in Montrose last Friday drew about one hundred attendees at Goudys hall. An evening program featured music by a brass quartet, a paper titled My Own United States by Geo. C. Freet, a vocal solo, an original poem, and a reading The Objects of the Order by Warren Aker, followed by supper and social time led by toastmaster C W Horn.

Expexy Club Observes Lincoln and McKinley Day

The Expexy Club met at the Clapper sisters home to observe McKinley Day on January 29 and Lincoln Day on February 12. A compelling program on Lincoln's life was presented and hostesses provided pleasant refreshments. Fourteen members answered roll call and agreed to meet in one week.

At a Massillon Board of Trade meeting the extension of the street railway from Wooster street to East Greenville and Dalton was debated. A committee was formed to negotiate with the N Q O T Co for construction, amid strong public backing and council explanations of past efforts and delays.
