Burglars forced entry at Slusser's Market on Main Street and removed cash and cigarettes. They bored above the lock at the rear door and attempted access at McDowell Hardware, succeeding only to damage back doors and a window while locks remained secure.
A January 30 bridal shower at Clifford Bash home southeast of Dalton celebrated Miss Vivian Killian with games and prizes won by Mrs. Thomas Shanklin Mrs. Earl Sword and Mrs Zada Smith. Luncheon featured a white table cover wedding bells a bride doll centerpiece and gum drop umbrellas as favors. The marriage of Miss Killian daughter of Mr and Mrs Emanuel S Killian and Claire Santmyer of Dalton is set for 2 30 PM Sunday March 5 at Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church southeast of Dalton.
A 1933 Miss Dalton mystery and the prominent 1880s family are teased, inviting the public to Dalton High School Thursday evening February 9 for an eight o clock variety show sponsored by the local PTA.
Miss Ellen Poorman and Miss Ruth Poorman left Tuesday for a several week stay in West Palm Beach Florida. The trip is noted in local notices as a brief vacation itinerary with no further details.
A Sunday evening birthday party for Mrs Dorothy Keller was hosted by her mother Mrs William Neiss at their West Lebanon home. Attending were Mr and Mrs John Neiss and daughter, Mr and Mrs Arthur Neiss and family, Mr and Mrs Olin Yarberry and son, Mr and Mrs Russell Dague, and Earl Neiss of Dalton. Refreshments were buffet style and a decorated cake graced the table as gifts poured in.

Newborns arrive in Ohio with two births reported. A son was born Wednesday evening February 1 at Massillon city hospital to Mr and Mrs James B Mu maw. A daughter followed Friday at Beeson hospital Wooster to Mr and Mrs Raymond Rohrer of R D 2.
Daniel Kratzer Jr and Jane Isabelle Mitchell wed at Deuber Ave Methodist Church Canton on Saturday Feb 4 at 230 pm The couple are the son and daughter of local Canton families with Kratzer a Kent State senior and Mitchell employed by Republic Steel Corp Also noted are the Moser relatives who attended.
Weldon Lehman and his family relocated from the Kidron road area to 813 N Bever Street Wooster this Tuesday. Lehman serves as head of the finance department at H Freedlander Co.
Miss Ella M. Martin of Dalton Road 2 and Milo M. Ressler of Wadsworth Road united in marriage at the J. R Martin home on Sunday February 5 1950 at 3 pm The ceremony was performed by Rev M G Horst of Wadsworth in the presence of immediate families The couple will reside on the groom s farm near Wadsworth with best wishes extended.

Fred Schwartzentruber and Irvin Finne will share cheese making supervision at the Kidron factory after March 1 as Ernest Gross retires. Schwartzentruber has nine years at the plant under Gross. Finne, a Swiss migrant, is an experienced cheesemaker. The plant operates year round and leads Wayne county production with over 70 milk suppliers. Gross will retire to his family farm near Sugar Creek.
William A. Barkman 70 died February 5 at Wayne County Home. Funeral services held at Desvoignes in Mt. Eaton with burial at Dalton Cemetery. He was a son of Daniel and unnamed mother. Survived by brothers Jacob of Orrville and Otto of Genoa and a sister Emma of Dalton.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brubaker of Mt. Joy Pa were weekend guests of Ella and Cora Martin. Elmer Good and family spent Sunday in Chester township. Heber Good and family spent Sunday in Mahoning County.

The January meeting of the Women’s Association gathered Tuesday evening in the Presbyterian basement with over fifty attendees. A covered dish supper decorated to reflect the twelve months was followed by devotionals led by Mrs. Hassemin and officer installation by Mrs. Marker. A tuno was sung, and biographies of mission leaders were presented by a list of members. The treasurer reported a treasury balance of $158.
