The Community Club will meet in the M. E. church Thursday evening at 6 30. The ladies of the church will serve a menu including fruit cocktail Swiss pork mashed potatoes gravy baked kraut pickles red beets bread butter jelly cherry pie coffee.
David Frantz celebrated his 83rd birthday with family at home on Sunday receiving many gifts. Attendees included the Oberlins Thurmans Shoup Straads and Effie Eschleman. Mrs John Gano hosted Marjorie Horst’s third birthday party with cake and a pink white table. Freddie Turner's fifth birthday was marked with dinner hosted by Henry Kraus and family from New Philadelphia Mansfield. The Women's Home Missionary Society met at Mrs Dale Scott's home to discuss racial relations with 13 attending and a social hour with refreshments.
Mrs Alfred Begert received a surprise bridal shower and buffet luncheon Thursday from 12 to 3 pm at the Samuel Martin residence. Twelve ladies attended including out of town guest Mrs Mahlon Hostetter of Cantun and many gifts were given.
Spooky Tavern by Blackleyville Grange will be staged at the High School Auditorium on Wednesday evening February 15 as the fourth lyceum play. Admission is 25 cents for adults and 5 cents for students. Also notes a Band Mothers Club meeting Friday and several weekend visitors.
The Dalton high school first semester honor roll lists freshmen Harold Mumaw James Weygandt sophomores Iona Gerber Marcel Zimmerman seniors Richard Moser Dorohy Simon and Betty Teeple with other grade levels shown. Local items note shopping sales hospital visits a fire department call and community updates plus features from The American Weekly.
Article honors Daniel Carter Beard as the inspiration and founder of American scouting. It notes he received the Boy Scout golden eagle badge and Roosevelt gold medal for distinguished service and recalls last summer’s Suffern New York party with a human birthday cake. It praises his role in founding the first Boy Scout society and his work as an artist.

Springdale Po Jeanette 508689 produced 4507.1 pounds of milk and 309.6 pounds of butter fat in 274 days in class EHI. Another Guernsey Springdale Po Margette 460001, two years old, yielded 666.4 pounds of milk in 277 days with no butter fat listed.
