Mrs. Catharine Ann Chaffin Dies at 91 in Orrville

Mrs. Catharine Ann Chaffin 91 widow of Norman Chaffin died at noon Tuesday at her daughter in law’s home in Orrville after a three week illness. Survived by three sons Ira Idaho Carl Sterling Harry Wooster one sister 12 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral at H. C. Ruble and Son funeral home Orrville Friday at 2 30 with Rev. Paul Carter officiating. Burial Crown Hill cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 7 to 9 PM.

Death of Rural Mail Carrier David J Hooley at 53

David J Hooley died of a heart attack at his home near North Lawrence on February 1 after a fall left him bedfast. He served 18 years as a rural mail carrier for North Lawrence and Orrville post offices. Survived by wife Ella, daughter Rhea, sons Elmo and Clarence, five sisters, and a large local family. Funeral at Pleasant View Mennonite Church with burial in Pleasant View cemetery.

National Hooked Rug Exhibit Opens in Strasburg

The National Hooked Rug Exhibit opened at Garver Bros. Co. in Strasburg Saturday drawing a large crowd. It features 136 rugs showing almost every pattern in the rug hooking field. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 9:00 p.m. Saturdays, closed Sundays.
