Groundhog Weather Reports Severe Cold Across February

The weather column notes grim conditions with January averaging 14.2 degrees above zero vs a 30 year mean of 27. Mercury dipped below zero on eight mornings and hovered near zero on several others. February readings at the Gazette office show multiple below zero days, with some intervals reaching above zero later in the month and a 50 degree rise in 24 hours accompanied by rain.

Constant Sufferer Finds Relief With Kidney Pills

C F Reynolds of Elmira New York describes severe kidney trouble with backache and bed rest for three months. He began taking Foley Kidney Pills after seeing an advertisement and was soon able to rise from bed. The pills are promoted to strengthen kidneys and bladder and relieve backache rheumatic pains sore muscles and stiff joints.

Notice from S. J. Goudy inviting farmers to deliver cream to a new Dalton plant for butter production. The cream will be tested at delivery and bought at the current Canton market price for butter fat, this week 53 cents per pound. Goudy seeks 9 to 11 o clock patronage.

Shooting at Orrville Ends in Fatal Wounding

A quarrel between two Austrian trackwalkers in Orrville last Thursday morning led to Mike Benersick fatally shooting Joe Bundeck in a rooming house near the trestle. Benersick fired twice after entering for a bed clash and fled along the Wheeling tracks before being captured Friday at Brewster and jailed.

Peruna King Hartman dies at 86 after

Dr. Samuel B. Hartman inventor of Peruna dies in Columbus last Wednesday at age 86. He built one of the world’s largest proprietary medicine factories and spent about 12 million dollars in advertising. He was an uncle of Mrs. Robert Lewis of this place.
