The junior Bulldogs reserve basketball squad, under coaches Larry Zuercher and Duane Miller, are hailed as champions after a 41-15 win over Hiland reserves. The piece notes their aggressive play, compares them to the varsity, and hints at celebration plans and future success.
Dalton residents face no food shortage as Rotarians host a spaghetti dinner at the Junior High School Cafeteria from 4 30 to 7 00 p m on Saturday. Adults pay 2 dollars students 1 dollar and children under 1 are free. Tickets available from Rotarians or at the door.
Rupp Construction remains top with 49 31 as Santmyer Oil and Bergs IGA follow in standings 48 32 and 46 34. Team No 9 leads high series 2763 pins with Rupp Construction 2714 and Jerry’s Mens Shop 2685. high series 597 by Syl Miller and top games 211 and 204. Individual scores list Fred Dale Gordy Graybill Skip Powell and others with multiple 200s.
Elsie Steiner, daughter of Mr and Mrs Cleophas Steiner of RD 1 Dalton, won the Good Citizens Contest from the National Society D A R for Dalton High School. She will receive a certificate at the spring senior awards assembly.
Gail Speck was named Dalton High School 1973-74 Betty Crocker Family Leader of Tomorrow after a December exam. She may win state and national honors and will receive a General Mills designed award and potential scholarships up to 5 000 dollars.
Auto license plates may be purchased from Deputy Registrar Mrs Vera Shilling at her West Main Street home. Orders open March 15 with plates available to the public.
Dalton edges Hillsdale 65-64 in a tense road thriller to move within a tie for the WCL championship. Jon Ketler 21 and Phil Labaugh 18 pace the Bulldogs offense as Dalton also dominates Hiland Hawks 81-38 in a non conference win.
Pricilla will lead a four week plaster art course at The What Not Shelf 45 W Math Street Dalton. Cost 14 dollars with all materials provided. She will be at the shop Monday Feb 11 at 2 30 to answer questions. opening date to be announced.
