After twelve years lead at the Presbyterian church in Oroville Rev R D Wingert resigns. He has accepted a unanimous call from the Presbyterian church at Granville and will preach his last Oroville sermon on Feb 23 before starting duties in Granville the following Sunday. Wingert has served nineteen years in ministry since coming to Orrville from McKeesport.
Fred Willard, 15, son of Mr and Mrs Frank Snodgrass of Barberton, grandson of Mrs J W Erwin and A Aker, died at home Sunday after a week with flu and pneumonia. A Barberton High freshman, he is survived by his parents two brothers two sisters and many friends. Funeral Wednesday afternoon.
Rebecca Berg celebrated with her children and families at her home on Sunday. Attendees included John V. Berg of Hartville. W Bert Lehman and family of Orrville. Earl E. Younker and daughters. Eaton. Herbert H. Berg of Massillon. Levi R. Berg. and Laura Amstutz and children from this place.
The funeral for 78 year old Mrs Phoebe Shanklin died at her daughter Gail Reis home on 1036 Oakwood Ave Massillon Ohio was conducted Monday afternoon by Rev J E Digel pastor of St John Evangelical with pallbearers Dayton Shanklin Charles Shanklin Milton Shanklin Carl Ries Clarence Shanklin and Wm Ries.
The Dalton school reports an upbeat assembly led by Walter Horst with Clarence Heubner presenting Morning Exercises. Students Mildred Snell Frances Gibson Ellen Hofstetter Sylvia Zeuroher Goldie Gerber Alice Lehman and others contributed poetry reading and culture segments amid sports updates and upcoming games.
The Methodist choir surprised Mrs. H C Schaller of Orrville with a home visit and baskets as a memory token. Kate Slusser’s birthday party in Dalton featured a chicken dinner, pink cake, and guests from Canton. A Presbyterian revival reception hosted 125, with speeches, music, and two five dollar gold pieces in the bouquet for Rev Kerr and wife. Mrs Rudy’s birthday gathering at the Douglas home included a noon chicken dinner, a cake with 68 candles, and gifts for Mrs Rudy.
