Loyal and Mrs. Santmyer welcomed a son after a cold trip to Beeson Hospital. A neighbor lent a car, then Auble’s ambulance transported the mother three miles west of Dalton where the birth occurred near Alpine. Dr Beeson reported all in good health and credited the father Perry and driver Herry Auble for their help.
Time extended publicity chairman Paul Schultz announced Saturday that the 1948 March of Dimes campaign had been extended to Feb. 15.
The Dalton Softball Association will meet Monday evening February 9 at 8:00 in the town hall. All teams from town or nearby are urged to send a representative for entry into the local league and to discuss the bleacher project for the coming season. V. E. Bach, Pres.

Dalton High School suffered a 60 to 49 league loss to Fredericksburg on Friday with the reserves falling 43 to 31. On Saturday at Strasburg the team lost 84 to 34 and the reserves 31 to 14. Tuesday at Orroville Dalton won 40 to 38 in a close finish.

The Dalton Community Guild will host a Valentine dance on Saturday night February 7 from 8 30 to 11 45 in the High School gym Shelly Lohr s orchestra of Massillon will provide music with special intermission entertainment.

Benjamin F Harper aged 70 resided near Snively station and died Thursday night Jan 29 1948 at Beeson hospital Wooster after a long local life as a store keeper. He is survived by wife Amy daughter Ruth Neiss of West Lebanon son Edwin two grandchildren Lynn and Colleen Neiss two sisters Pearl Jones Ashland Ora Huth Akron. Mr and Mrs Willis Neuenschwander of Dalton RD 1 welcomed a son at Beeson hospital Wooster Monday morning. Mr and Mrs Ray Weaver of Apple Creek RD announced a daughter born Sunday at Beeson hospital. Mr and Mrs Myron Falk of Orrville RD 1 welcomed a daughter weighing 8 pounds born Wednesday at Beeson hospital Wooster.
The 54th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Teeple was quietly celebrated with a dinner hosted by their children at their Dalton home. The couple have spent most of their married life in Dalton and Sugar Creek township and are parents to three children Edna Arnold Glenn Teeple and Harry Teeple with grandchildren Janice Teeple Norman Arnold and Mrs George Hider Jr.

Marion Moser, Dalton High School senior, injured ankle in Strasburg game. Weather notes: February cold snap eased with 6 above on Sunday, highs around 30, 20 above midweek and four inches snow.
The Ohio Bell Telephone Company filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for new charges expected to raise annual revenue by about 8.5 million dollars, a nine percent increase. Local rises would affect Dalton and other cities by varying amounts across residential and business services including line increases and changes to four party and two party lines.
