Special Services at United Presbyterians Begin Feb 7

Preparatory services for winter communions are set at the United Presbyterians church starting Sabbath evening February 7 and continuing through the week. Rev. W. A. Mietler of Sakpeville will preach on topics each evening: Privileges of God's Children, The New Life, The Fight of Faith, Christ the Door, Watch and Pray. An invitation is extended to all to attend.

Benjamin Rohrer of Baughman township died at his daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Wm Camp home one mile north of Dalton on Sunday Jan 31 1909 He was born Aug 30 1821 in Lancaster county aged 87 years 5 months and 1 day He lived in Baughman township 60 years served as a trustee since 1860 and was a long time active resident He had been blind for eight years Funeral was held Tuesday at one oclock at the Camp residence Rev C C Smith of Orrville preached the sermon and interment followed at Martin Church Cemetery

Dalton Man Receives U S Patent for Mail Carrier Device

Alvin A. Maurer of Route F D 3 was officially notified by attorney Judge H B Swartz of the allowance of a U S patent on his new mail carriers device. The invention carries mail over short crooked rural routes and lanes, addressing a long standing delivery problem. The patent was allowed within 30 days after completing the application, underscoring originality and efficient securing of protection.

Wedding Bells and Quiet Nuptials in Local Community

Two couples wed recently as Emerson S. Wilson and Hettie M. Buchwalter united at the bride’s home with Rev. J. W. Findlay officiating. Seventy five guests attended a wedding dinner, while a later Kisner Graber ceremony joined Emerson L Kisner and Mary Olive Graber at the Presbyterian parsonage. Both couples plan housekeeping in early spring or within two weeks after their ceremonies.

Washington’s Cure After Doctors Fail Bucklen’s Salve

Obituary of Amelia Brueckner of Dalton Shio

Amelia Brueckner, born Neikersh Germany April 6 1838, died January 26 1909 in Dalton Shio aged 70 years 9 months 20 days. She married Ernest Drueckner July 21 1861 and left two daughters 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She belonged to the German Lutheran church and the funeral was held in Dalton Thursday at one o clock with attendees from out of town including Mr and Mrs Nickolas Muhlen Mrs David Jones Miss Helen Lax and others.

Notice of Presenting County Road Petition in Wayne County

Petitioners led by A L Arnold seek alteration of the county road from the Moscow Kidron road to Dalton Sonneenberg road in Township 16 Wayne County Ohio. The petition will be presented to the Wayne County Commissioners at their next session on February 2. The proposed route starts 15 feet west of the Sugarcreek and Northern Ry right of way and runs north about 19 rods then east across the right of way about 41 1/2 rods to rejoin the existing route.
