In Dalton on December 3 1923 residents gathered to repair the Massillon Dalton road after a hunch sparked by a local sighting. Men hauled sand laid brick poured tar and worked in shifts to reach the borough limits by Tuesday. The town hopes better roads boost local business and the effort earned a bold headline in the Dalton column.

Two Dalton families reveal engagements. Veronica Rae Guleff and Howard J. Wenger plan marriage. Guleff a 1963 Dalton High School graduate and secretary at International Paper in Wooster. Wenger, a 1961 Dalton graduate, works for Republic Steel in Massillon. The second couple, Barbara A. Vaughn and James H. Buchanan, announce plans for a June 11 Dalton wedding. Vaughn, a senior at Ohio University, is pursuing psychology. Buchanan earned English and philosophy degrees at Ohio University and will complete a philosophy master's this August.

Deputy registrar announces license plate reservations begin February
Deputy registrar announces starting February 9 reservations for new red plates with white numerals. Applicants must bring car title and 1965 registration card and pay the license fee. New plates usable March 1. applications taken 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at G. G. Grim Co. and on Saturdays at her home. A new three year renewal period for driver licenses began September 7, 1965, with many renewals due. Old license and social security card must be shown.
