Glider pilot Lieut Barnaby becomes first to sail from an improvised direction in Los Angeles in 1990. Earlier notes recount on February 1, 1893 two St. Louis men crossed the Colorado Desert by bicycle, while on February 2, 1862 Farragut departed Hampton Roads for the Mississippi River.
Fifty members gathered at Dalton high school for a social evening followed by a fish fry. Field & Stream wildlife reels Tarpon Acrobatics and Hunting the Great Grizzly were shown. Fred Locke led the meal with help from Clarence Kraus and W T Martin. officers named were Clarence Kraus president Carl Lawrence vice president and Dr R S Gerber secretary-treasurer.
Lemuel Stahl aged 76 of near West Lebanon fractured several ribs after falling through a hole in a barn floor while helping at Kelsey Hofacre’s farm. He also bruised himself in the accident. A year earlier he had a similar home accident. Murray Edwards buys Baker service station site, to open Saturday handling Sinclair products.
Mrs Noah Nussbaum of West Main street slipped on an icy walk at her home Friday morning and broke the large bone in her left leg just above the ankle. Dr Keirn was summoned and she was taken to Massillon hospital where the fracture was reduced. Baer's Genuine Lancaster Almanacs for 1938 at Scott's.

Whiting Williams journalist and lecturer will speak in Wooster college chapel on Wednesday February 9 under the Class of 1917 sponsorship. He has spent time with America's unemployed including sleeping in parks and talking with job seekers, and his address is titled Whats on the Workers Mind. Residents of Dalton are invited with no admission charge.
A Thursday evening session will enact changes to the sewer project including instructing Willis Horn City Solicitor to finalize 13 easements through private property. Engineers Ballard and Akron PWA staff will adjust plans to cut costs, with final submission to regional director Fred Roose. Local officials urge public cooperation.
Mrs P Slusser hosted a surprise dinner for daughter Kate with many guests including E L Slusser Rev H F Patterson and Dr Ray Hansen. The Presbyterian Women's Missionary Society met with devotions and a youth topic discussion themed today is Youth.
Thirty seven members and friends of the U. P. Young People's Society met Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Sandwith. They spent the time informally playing party games and were served sandwiches pickles cocoa jello and wafers by the hostess and helpers.
Moreland Grange will present Auntie Up next Wednesday night February 9 in the high school auditorium. Don and King, Dalton institutions in 18 months, appear before first Congregational church Sunday school in Canton on February 18. Great Danes trained by Dr. Lee L. DeArment perform color differentiation and acrobatics in training, described as matchless.
Hendersonville, N C Robert Morris, 77, tends a 147 year old family fire in a granite hearth of a Holbert Cove cabin He plans to keep it burning until death and hopes for preservation as a memorial in Great Smoky Mountains National Park with him as long as he lives The D A R has proposed moving the fire to the park and naming a successor caretaker after his passing

Dalton Ohio February 15 1938 bids will be received by the Sugar Creek Township Trustees for gasoline and oil for township use. Bids include standard grade gasoline unleaded gasoline bulk oil per barrel or half barrel and per quart pricing for retail grades at 25c and 20c respectively.
