A Gospel meditation cites Mark eight noting Jesus restores sight after two touches, guiding the man out of the village. It warns that partial healing leaves danger of continued blindness and urges full spiritual cure rather than complacent weakness.
The Dalton Presbyterian Church schedules a pre-Lenten series titled Near To The Heart Of Jesus based on I Am passages from John. The first talk is The Son of Thunder Who Became The Apostle of Love as Lent encourages soul refreshment and Christian character. Organ prelude 10:30, Sunday School 9:30–10:25, Sr Hi and Jr Hi at 7:30, Circle meetings Feb 7 at various homes.
The Kidron Community Council announces the first of two annual Machinery Sales to fund local activities. Proceeds support the Fire Department recreation program and athletic association. Auction starts 9:30 a.m. and runs to 4 or 5 p.m. Four auctioneers and clerks operate in two-team shifts. Consignments arrive Friday and Saturday from Ohio and nearby states.
Edith Steiner, winner with the highest written score in homemaking knowledge, is named the 1961 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow at Dalton High. She becomes a state finalist for the All-American award with scholarships rising to 5000 for top national, 4000 3000 and 2000 for others.
Rev. Paul Price selects The Meaning of Our Vows as Sunday morning sermon at Dalton Methodist Church. Worship starts 10 45 a m with visitors invited. Sunday School 9 30 to 10 30 led by Supt Kenneth Yeaman. Youth Fellowship meets 7 30 p m in church social rooms with program by Marilyn Thomas assisted by Joan Crofut and Karen Smith. Social hour hosted by Betty Nichols and Judy Nussbaum. Recreation led by Darrell Berg and Blake Bach. Official board meetings Monday Feb 6 at 8 p m at church office. Martha and Mary circles met last week at members homes for Looking Backward and Thinking Forward.

The Dalton VFW Post marked its 15th anniversary with a Sunday evening event at the post home. A carry in supper started at 6:00 PM with ham rolls and coffee provided by auxiliaries. Attendees included 120 post and auxiliary members and families, with out of town guest Larry Teeple.
Sr. Girl Scouts held a candlelight installation for new officers with Louise Specht as president. Judy Bates reported a Teenage Hop at the VFW hall on St Patrick's Day. Janet Orwick and Karen McCullough join the committee. craft and hobby nights planned for February 16.
At a special session Monday night council learned outside pressure and bondholders may push to finish the sewer project with state and federal aid. The meeting will include the Teachers Retirement Fund attorney general and village officials to discuss financing and bond sale. Insurance adequacy was reviewed with a clerk instructed to obtain new estimates.
Ohio Fuel Gas Co says its underground rock reservoirs store natural gas safely near consumers. McElllan reports customers save about 54 dollars in winter. the company operates 10 reservoirs with 206 billion cubic feet stored at season start to meet heating demand for over 660000 Ohio homes.
Dr. John Gillen spoke at Dalton Rotary Monday evening on medicine and doctors. Plans were made for the Rotary Banquet at the Y building in Wooster next Monday night February 6 with International Rotary president Mr. McLaughlin as speaker. Local attendees include Louis Tschantz E L Springer Dr and Mrs Gillen Mr and Mrs Glen Berg Mr and Mrs Don Flath and Mr and Mrs Robert Baer.
The intermediate Girl Scout troupe held a regular meeting at the town hall at 4 00 p m with President Barb Herbert opening. Reports from the secretary and treasurer were approved and Kathleen Kelly was invested. The group planned a valentine party for the Rest Home in Wooster with a program featuring Lynette Ober and Melody Laurence among others.
Menu Monday February six features vegetable soup crackers peanut butter sandwiches peach and cottage cheese salad pie and milk. Tuesday February seven offers hamburger gravy on biscuits relish cabbage salad fruit and milk. Wednesday February eight serves Spanish rice plain sandwiches tossed salad donuts fruit and milk. Thursday February nine provides green beans with ham boiled potatoes lettuce salad cherry pudding and milk. Friday February nineteen presents macaroni and cheese fish sticks relish plain sandwiches celery and carrot sticks fruit and milk.

Inquiries go to Room 349 Federal Building, New York International Airport, Jamaica, NY. Sealed bids due by February 24, limited to small business construction contractors.
