Dalton plans a Christmas day event at City Hall lawn with a 2 30 p m program. A large tree will stand on the lawn and a sequence of prayers songs recitations and addresses will be delivered by local leaders and a children’s feature by the 11th Regiment Band.

The Madison forest products laboratory produced 4 000 tents from American woods. Acorn gathering and sale support eastern nurseries via Arkansas. The Gazette recounts a Christmas Day reception at Henry Weaver's residence for their son W. D. and his bride. Akron visitors Will and Chas. Slusser traveled to town for the Christmas tree as Will Westbeffer reported two hogs weighing about 1200 pounds live and 1010 pounds dressed, fed by Peter M. Gerber.
Davison postmaster reports the parcel post ruling effective January 1 1914. Fourth class weight limits rise to 50 pounds for first two zones and to 20 pounds for zones three through eight. First zone local postage starts at 1.5 cents per pound with incremental increases to 60 pounds. Books join parcel post March 16 1914 with 2 ounce increments or zone rates thereafter.

Fire of unknown origin destroyed the large bank barn on the Louis Stuinmiller farm near Doyleatwawn last Wednesday night. Neighbors threshing discovered the blaze. All livestock were removed and a hay loader land roller wagon along with this year’s crops were burned.

The event runs February 2 at the Ohio State University offering agricultural instruction for farmers unable to attend the regular course. Wives and children are provided for and will receive instruction. Daily sessions by the Ohio State Livestock Association and Dairy Men's Association accompany the week, which will feature a homecoming of former agricultural students.
Mr. G. J. Gerber exhibited Exhibition 8. C. W. Leghorns at the Chicago Show and earned a $50 cup and a cash prize for the best shaped female among 146 in the class. The event drew 258 Leghorn breeders and marked Gerber’s best showing to date.
