The third annual Holiday Gold Medal tournament by Wooster Parks and Recreation runs December 23 to 30 with games on Monday Thursday Friday evenings and Saturday afternoon. Wayne Holmes and Ashland county teams may enter with a $22 entry fee and roster form due by 4 30 p m Friday December 20 at the municipal building.
The Parks and Recreation office will host drawings on Saturday December 21 at 12:00 noon for a Massillon event. Team size is ten players plus a manager. Players must reside or work in Wayne Holmes or Ashland counties and high school or college varsity players are ineligible due to governing association rules.
Last year’s independent tournament drew top players and area fans. Bobby Knight listed as notable figure with 110 tournament points and 39 in a single game. Trophies go to top four teams and individual awards to top three teams and outstanding players. Contact for more info.
An auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars branch is organized under the Parks and Recreation department with contact number 264 1015 for volunteers and schedule details.
Tonight at 8 the post home hosts a Christmas exchange meeting. The committee plans a gala event as part of the seasonal activities.
