Pumps and rails removed by Tuesday, buildings sold, workers relocate to Mine 23 Woods mine in Pleasant Valley and nearby site 0J0-21 east of town. Dr. Sylvester F. Scovel D D LL D former president of Wooster University died Tuesday after about a week of pneumonia illness. He was 75 and survived by a son and two daughters. A revered educator and lecturer he also led the Nations Reform Association and the International Peace Society. His death is mourned by Wooster city and by former students and colleagues across Ohio and beyond.

Train Kills Three at Canton Crossing Crash
A Wheeling and Lake Erie passenger train struck a carriage at the Maple Avenue crossing in Canton killing three of the five occupants and injuring two others. Mrs. Joseph Meyers guided the horses onto the tracks while en route to Crystal Park. The dead include Miss Fannie Myers 19 Morris Ress 24 and Morrie Rose 24.
