Local Farmer Injured In Fall From Tractor

Jerry Shisler, 61, suffered a possible skull fracture and facial injuries after falling from a tractor he was repairing. The tractor rolled through barn doors from a height of ten feet, dropping onto the floor at the Dalton area farm. He was hospitalized in Massillon after an X ray revealed a broken second vertebra and a neck cast was planned. his condition was listed as fair.

A Sunday surprise party at the Guy M Rudy residence in N Millet honors his 75th birthday. Family members present include Clarence Motz and family, Russell Frey and family, and John Hunter and David. A television set is presented to celebrate. David is the Rudys first grandchild.

Schultz Emig families hold Sunday reunion at Dalton park

The Schultz Emig reunion drew 45 attendees at Dalton park on Sunday. Dennis Arnold presided as Irene Tracy reported on the previous meeting and finances. William and Mary Blethyn were elected officers for the coming year. Mary Pontius, 93, of Smithville was the oldest attendee, and plans call for next year’s gathering in the park.

Ohio Edison unveils 100000 kilowatt unit at Belmont power plant

More than 200 Ohio mayors and press representatives attended the unveiling of Ohio Edison Companys new 100000 kilowatt generating unit at the R E Burger plant in Belmont County on the Ohio River near Bellaire. The unit, the largest in the system, began service in March 1950 and cost over 12 million dollars. The ceremony honored R F Burger, then president of The Ohio Public Service Company, with a bronze plaque presented by W H Sammis, Edison president. Attendees from Massillon included George W Bond, John H Klinge, Fred J Becker, and mayors Robert S Werrtchall and Vern Hoobler.

Kirchhofer Scarborough Tie The Knot In July Ceremony

Miss Fthel Kirchhofer and John R Scarborough wed in San Luis Obispo California on July 3 and announced the marriage in Corcoran California on their return. The bride wore champagne raw silk with peach carnations. Mrs Scarborough serves as superintendent at Corcoran Municipal Hospital and moved there two years ago to help open the facility. Scarborough is 15 sales manager for the Boyett Stokes Chevrolet Agency in Corcoran.

The Dalton Garden Club held its annual picnic in Dalton Park on Thursday evening August 3 with strong attendance. 200 Piece Band To Play At State Fair

A 200 piece All Ohio boys band under Dr Louis Pete of Ashland will perform during the Centennial Ohio State Fair in Columbus. Rehearsals start a week before the fair opens on Saturday August 26. Daily concerts will be given on the fairgrounds throughout the event.
