In 1813 U S forces captured Toronto as part of the War of 1812 actions. The event marked a significant moment in the northern theater with American troops advancing into Canada before retreat or reinforcement shifted the campaign.
Dalton residents await the band season as rehearsals continue Mondays with several members absent due to other engagements. The group will provide music at Bondil on May 30 in the forenoon and at Brewster on Saturday night, June 15.
The First National Bank announces Wednesday noon closings during May June July and August. This notice states regular business resumes after the mid day closure.

Homer Campbell and Cora Hubacher of Burton City were married at the M. E. parsonage in Dalton by Rev. H F Patterson. The couple will reside in Burton City.
The Ohio Public Service Co installs an electric eye in Massillon to regulate street lighting. The device turns on as night falls and darkens as daylight returns, fixing early dawn outages. Residents note prior lights went off around 4 a.m. in winter, leaving streets in darkness.
The annual clean-up of winter debris will run Thursday and Friday April 25 and 26. Rubbish will be collected only from alleys and side streets when placed in containers easily handled by two men. Loose rubbish will not be gathered. By Order of Council.

In a sparsely settled Paraguay region near Brazil, by the Tarana and Parana rivers, lies a valley where rain supposedly falls for 100,000 years. A steady wind from Great Guayra Falls lifts spray, forms clouds, and carries rain over the countryside.
Two cars collide just east of town on Lincoln highway Tuesday night at 8 30. A B Franklin of Mt Lebanon Pa driving a Plymouth coach hits east bound Studebaker roadster driven by H H Slater of Smithville. Both drivers escape injury and the vehicles are badly damaged, removed to Haverstock Davis garage.
The Dalton Grade School presents a musical program on Tuesday April 30 at 8 p.m. The 1st and 2nd grade Rhythm Band will perform pieces including Onward Christian Soldiers Shoemakers Dance Norwegian Mountain Dance Twinkle Twinkle Little Star The Ace of Diamonds and Pop Goes the Weasel. Grades 3 and 4 feature a two song chorus set Sand Wells Old English Nursery Rhyme and Singing Games including Happy is the Miller Two Young Couples a Skating Went and Darling Nellie Gray. Grades 5 and 6 present The Story of The Good Ship Lollipop and The Story of That Dog Rover.
Grades 7 and 8 mixed chorus sing in four parts including Flow Gently Sweet Afton and Praise for Peace Fleming, with an 8th grade mixed quartet also listed. The high school presents the county second place Bread one act with a full cast led by John Curtiss and family names. Admission policy notes 10c for high school pupils and adults. no charge for grade school children from Dalton or Sugar Creek townships.
The fragment asserts Catherine the Great was not Russian and misstates her name while alleging extreme misconduct and seduction of lovers. It also claims Peter the Great was an inept ruler who mistreated soldiers and indulged in debauchery. It adds a dubious note about Orville Wright’s last flights and implies a long hiatus.
In Carlisle Castle Scotland carved stones in its dungeon recall Jacobite suffering. Mary Queen of Scots was immured there for a period and King David I died within the historic fortress.

Saturday evening at 7 o clock James Giffin of Bellaire QC and Miss Dorothy Fisher of Speidel OH were united in marriage by Rev H F Patterson at the Brenner home. Patterson earlier officiated at the bride’s parents marriage in Speidel OH.
