Dalton High School music students excelled in Columbus with top ratings. Tom McFarren and Nancy Warnock earned first in piano solo, the girls vocal trio of Warnock Graber and Steiner won first, and Coffman Crumley Amstutz placed second in trumpet trio. The woodwind quintet and Coffman trumpet solo earned second, while Sommer moved from Class C marimba to Class A and secured first.

The Dalton High School Band will present a program on Thursday evening, April 15 at 8 oclock in the high school auditorium. Feature is Poet and Peasant Overture by Von Suppe with Sousa selections. Solo and small ensemble performances include two trumpet solos, trumpet trio, sax trio, french horn solo, and a clarinet solo. Admission is 25 cents. Mr and Mrs Kenneth Yeaman of Culligan Soft Water Service Dalton depart Thursday for a two day convention of Culligan Soft Water Service Operators from the area in Columbus April 16 and 17. The event marks the 10th anniversary of the first Culligan service, a growth from one town to over 800 independent firms serving more than 2 000 towns nationwide. Yeaman expects announcements on new water conditioning services for the community.

Obituary of William Albert Neiss Farmer of Dalton
William Albert Neiss, a longtime farmer in the Dalton area for 37 years, died Sunday night at his home from a heart ailment after six months of illness. He was born in Holmes county and leaves his wife, three sons Harry of Fresno, John and Arthur of West Lebanon, Earl at home, a stepson Edward Smith of Dalton RD, three daughters Mrs Walter Keg Ron of Brewster, Mrs Theodore Keller at home, and Mrs Russell Dague of Dalton, plus 21 grandchildren. He belonged to Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church at Orrville. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:30 am at the DesVoignes funeral home in Mt. Eaton, Rev E. W. Spence officiating. Burial followed at Crown Hill cemetery in Orrville.
