The cornerstone of the South Dakota Soldiers Home in Hot Springs was laid at high noon today by the Grand Lodge of the Masonic fraternity. G. V. Ayres, grand master, spoke before the ceremony led by Col. Price of Letcher. About 1,500 people attended the ceremonies despite cold weather. A large camp fire at the M E church followed, with several hundred more unable to gain admission.
Papers for another libel case are expected to be served on W. C Nesbitt editor of the Dell Rapids Times. Complaints come from two Dell Rapids dressmakers whom the paper has recently drawn into unpleasant notoriety.
In Hieumore on November 11 L Q Jeffries resigned his clerkship and left for Pierre after declining candidacy before the commissioners. C H Price was appointed clerk of the circuit court but declined. The commission then reballoted among seven candidates and named John C Stoner, the retiring probate judge, as clerk of the circuit and county courts.
Frances E. Willard was re-elected president of the National WCTU with near unanimous votes on the ballot. J Ellen Foster of Iowa, representing the non partisan element, received nine votes on the informal ballot.
Yan Arton November 11. J T Smith a brother of Judge Smith was appointed clerk of the circuit court by the county commissioners. He is a young man of excellent qualifications and the appointment is a good one.
Maj. Pickler arrives in Washington. Mrs. J Ellen Foster leads the Iowa W C T U delegation withdrawal from the Chicago convention. Senator Moopy speaks in Washington at No 10 B Street NE and Senator Pettigrew at the corner of First and B Street NE.
Messrs C W Barringer of Huron and S W Narregang of this city organized the Artesian Irrigating company with cooperative partners. They draft articles of incorporation to sink artesian wells for irrigation and power, sell water rights, and finance land via mortgages. Capital stock starts at 100000 dollars, with potential to rise to 500000. Principal office will be in Huron and seven directors will run the business.

Minister Darling wins popularity amid church social. Geese near the lake remain common. local lawless visitors shoot game on Sundays. Lewis Kimball Jr. travels to Washington. Tommy Nickell and Johnnie Fassler reportcribbing 1300 bushels of corn for a neighbor.
Judge A W Campbell of the Fifth judicial circuit will be in Huron Friday afternoon November 22 and stay until Saturday noon. Attorneys with business before him are advised to note the visit and arrange meetings accordingly.
