Huron greets a visiting Georgia hero amid overflowing crowds. Local residents and groups mobilize to care for the Nation's Heroes, with volunteers and officials coordinating meals, shelter, and rests for attendees and veterans. Public services prepare to support the influx.
The G A R encampment in Huron featured a grand parade led by the Huron band fire and drum corps and school groups with 230 veterans and about 400 participants. Officials and attendees from G A R W R C and visiting dignitaries delivered addresses at the opera house followed by a large public reception and a flag presentation at Kilpatrick Post.
The article lists prominent officials and their towns in the region, including adjutant general, Gen. Rogers, assistant quartermaster general Gen. H. H. Beadle of Madison, Col. A. B.
