Director General of Canal Plan Debated by Senate Panel
Washington January 30 A plan to reorganize the isthmian canal commission was presented by Senator Morgan. It would create a director general assisted by the chief engineer in charge of construction and include department heads under the chief engineer. The director general would have supreme authority but act with advice of the subordinate commissioners and the group would meet on the isthmus at least six times a year. Discussion will resume at the next session as Hopkins and Knox work on a bill.
