A University of Pennsylvania biology expedition leaves New York at 3 p m aboard the Portia. Led by Professor Charles E Hite the team includes A G Harrison Jr Henry Walsh and Dr J D McDonald surgeon. They proceed to collect natural history specimens from Central America.
Labor Commissioner Powers received a Duluth petition signed by 1500 lumber men seeking a law to protect workers from contracts with no wages until April. They ask for a statute requiring companies to state pay, give notice of reduction, and pay monthly. Powers will draft and introduce it this session.
Dr. Arthur G. Webster of Clark University receives the Elihu Thompson prize, a $1000 award for the best treatise on electricity. The international competition honors the work, with the Paris committee selecting the winner.

The note features a small scalloped carmine seal and is linked to officials J Fount Tillman the register and D N Morgan the treasurer.
General James N. Bethune former owner of Blind Tom and ex solicitor general of Georgia lies seriously ill at his son’s home in Washington. His daughter remains at his side as he endures age related frailty after a comfortable night.

Farmers can ship a mixed car from Fargo to Minneapolis St Paul or Duluth at 17.15 cents per 100 pounds and other origins list single rate cuts for onions turnips beets cabbage carrots and potatoes with further products under review.
