Death of John Wood Prominent Huron Figure
John Wood a longtime Beadle County and Huron legal figure dies after a prolonged illness. Born Eaton Rapids Michigan May 14 1845 he practiced law in Michigan before moving to Huron and serving as county judge state s attorney and United States Commissioner. Survived by his wife Mary E Waldron and son Dr F T Wood the funeral was held at the Congregational church with Masonic rites and interment in Eaton Rapids.

In Whiting Court a suit for divorce was dismissed after Mrs. Lawrence returned from the East with her husband. Judge Whiting ordered costs and attorney fees paid by the defendant. Lawrence, a well to do farmer worth about forty to fifty thousand dollars, had faced allegations of neglect prior to settlement with his wife and children. The couple then returned to their Lakeside area home to try to live peacefully.
