Washington orders the Smith court martial dissolved to allow presidential review. The same Chaffee appointed members will be used, avoiding entanglements and keeping the process in U.S. oversight rather than Manila. The court was slated to meet soon after dissolution.
President J J Hill of the Northern Securities company and the Great Northern Railroad, visiting New York, says he is not concerned by the Supreme Court granting leave to Washington to file an injunction against the Northern Securities company. He asserts property rights cannot be taken and ownership form changes won’t alter control.
