In New York on February 24 Winifred Ankers is held on a charge linked to the death of eight babies at a Brooklyn nursery and infants hospital. Detectives say she confessed to harming infants with oxalic acid in milk and claimed they promised she could keep her baby if she spoke.
Cora Malinda Hood aged two months, daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Hood of Adamston, died Saturday morning after several days illness. The body was taken to Fairmont on the 2:30 Interurban car, then to Opekiska for funeral and burial Monday afternoon.
Louis Spiro and family depart tonight for New York City where he will devote his time entirely to the manufacturing business. Spiro has run a jewelry business here for six years and is well known in business and fraternal circles, with many friends who regret his departure yet applaud a more lucrative metropolis career.
Jorgina B Williams will sing several New York song hits as part of a program by the Cadenza orchestra from 6 30 to 8 30 Sunday evening on the Waldo hotel second balcony. The program includes Dashing Cavaliers Honey Man Antermezzo Russe Song D Autumn Little Millionaire Everybody Two Step Evening Star trombone and clarinet solos. Rural mail carrier appointments in Weston include Ray P Turner on route No 1 and substitute Claude Turner.
Washington February 24 The president sent to the Senate the nominations of Werbert P. Graham for postmaster at Keystone and Emerson B. Deltz for postmaster at Richwood reflecting federal appointments in those communities.
Floya Minney, a clerk at Kelley Mill store, is convalescing in St. Mary's hospital after an appendectomy performed a few days ago. A report lists Landon T. White as a city policeman.
Grant Wells, a Morgantown barber, died at his home from ingesting wood alcohol in what authorities term an act of self harm. He faced forgery charges and left two widows and one child.
Samuel Washington, a Black laborer at Mrs. Mary J. Freeman’s residence on East Mall Street, has been adjudged insane by Justice Jackson V. Sergeant J. N. Wrisby of the local recruiting station will visit Indianapolis next Monday for two or three days to promote the recruiting service. He has sent Elis C. Childers of this city and Lee W. Hefner of Adrian to the Columbus barracks for enlistment in the infantry.
Peter Serrier a well to do farmer living near Gallipolis was murdered and his home robbed and burned that night. His head was entirely severed from the body in a brutal crime that shocked the community.
Frank Harnardux, son of a millionaire, was attacked by highwaymen on a bridge to the Bronx last night. He resisted, was shot through both jaws, staggered to his office, sent for his automobile, and drove to a hospital where his condition today is described as serious.

Funeral services for Felix W. Martin who died Friday at his Haywood home will be held Sunday at 4 PM at the Methodist Protestant church in Haywood. Burial will follow in Mascule cemetery. Martin was long time postmaster of Haywood. Mrs J W Reed hosted guests Friday evening at their New Fair Grounds addition home, with eight games played and refreshments served. Loyal Temperance Legion meeting at Hipejack concluded with scrapbooking for the hospital ward and refreshments. Mrs John Scott, guest of Mrs Russell Anderson, returned Friday to Marietta Ohio.
Albert Clore aged 73 a prominent resident of Adams county died at his son in law William Barth home at 9 o clock Saturday morning after a short illness. He is survived by his widow and three children H Clore of Indianapolis Mrs William Barth of Fort Wayne and Mrs W J Stein of Clarksburg. Body to be taken to Redkey Indiana on No 2 leaving the local station at 9 40 Sunday morning. Funeral and burial will be held here Tuesday afternoon.
Dee Morganton reports Mia Florence Ethel Corbin aged 25 died suddenly of heart disease while on the front porch talking to children. She was wife of John Corbin. The incident occurred near their home. In London a report says three warships bombard Syria and many foreigners are killed or wounded, with American missionaries and officials mentioned in dispatches.
