Aged Woman Killed By Freight Train At Bristol Crossing

Mrs. Love Williams aged 70 was struck on the Bristol railroad crossing by an eastbound freight train and died ten minutes later. She had traveled from Salem Fork to visit her son in Bristol, mistaking the train for a passenger run as it approached the station. The incident left her husband and several relatives in the community including Stephen Williams, a Bristol merchant.

Fire damaged the Courier Journal plant, with losses pegged near 200000. Water and roof damage hit top stories hardest as work continues. The paper will be produced from rival papers in the city until operations resume at its own plant.

Nine Hour Day Breaks Across Major Western Railways

The Associated Press reports a nine hour workday will be tested on several large railroad systems in the West affecting about 2,200 machinists and potentially 20,000 shop workers if adopted nationwide. Wild Cat Scare Prompts Huntsman Rescue Mission
