Salvage Program Outlined To Club
The Hagerstown Kiwanis heard Lieut Leonard Abrams of the Salvage Segregation Center Frederick explain federal efforts to salvage usable metal from European battlefields. Since fall the Frederick center has sold scrap totaling 425000 with 100000 monthly savings on reusable parts. Six centers exist besides Frederick in Boston New York New Orleans Seattle San Francisco and Los Angeles. The Frederick site grew from five acres one crane and 30 employees to 25 acres eight cranes three locomotives and 80 employees. Since December 100 railroad cars have moved through the center carrying materials and reclaimed parts.

A mammoth fish hatchery likely in Frederick County would cost 269000 with potential output far surpassing current plants. Three Youths Are Given Prison Terms
Three 16 year olds were convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile girl in Juvenile Court and sentenced to House of Correction terms from three to six months.
