Local Homemaker clubs plan afternoon sessions with canning demonstrations by Ardath Martin and remodeling clinics led by Mrs. Jinkins and others. Contests and recreations featured. County 4 H Council and thirteen clubs to discuss the 1934 program at Hagerstown planning meeting.
Annapolis Md September 26 Governor Albert C Ritchie said he would welcome expression of the counties and Baltimore on liquor control legislation to aid in framing the administration program He outlined five major factors including state wide or county laws beer versus whiskey sales location licensure and taxation He noted that many counties adopt the state beer law and discussed possible models for a Maryland liquor control law The debate centers on whether to issue a saloon license system or a state controlled distribution with various regulatory approaches and potential Canada inspired provisions.

It claims anti freeze protection to zero, rust and clog prevention, non dilution with concentrate, and a winter guarantee by National Carbon Co. Ardath Martin county home demonstration agent trained the group in remodeling methods. Clinics will be held at monthly meetings and a kit of remodeled garments was prepared to aid demonstrations. A 4 H club group was organized for Lappans school children and mothers with Ardath Martin outlining projects. Beaver Creek Homemakers Club meets this afternoon with Mrs Samuel Kaylor. Recreation and clothing utilization demos proceed under Mrs Lantz Dayhoff Mrs Robert Hartle and Mrs John Pound will entertain and demonstrate on Wednesday.
Members of the Girls' Hi Club met last night in the Rose Room at the Y to discuss Courtship Friendship and Popularity. Miss Janet Mower gave a reading on How to be Popular. Several names were suggested for club advisors but none chosen yet. an outing for advisors and new members is planned for Monday night October 3.
A meeting of the Pennsylvania Railroad Woman's Aid will be held Thursday afternoon at o'clock in the administration building at Chambersburg. All members are requested to be present as important business will be discussed.
The Hagerstown Community Concert Association began its annual membership drive led by a capable committee working all week to recruit supporters. The Don Cossack Russian Male Chorus will perform at St John’s Auditorium on December 2 at 9 pm, seen as a highlight among plans to feature top artists like Wilbur Evans Rose Bampton and Toscha Seidel.
Mrs Rena Strickler hosted the Golden Rule Bible Class at St Pauls Evangelical church on Chestnut street with devotional led by president Mrs George Warner. The farm barn owned by Harry Bloom near Indian Springs was destroyed by fire with 500 bushels of grain. Calvin Bowers was the tenant. Falling Waters Limestone Co was incorporated with 8000 dollars capital. The Elks new home foundation was completed and contractor Geo C Wolt was ready to start work on the project.
Fire destroyed the frame dwelling of James Zepp near Downeville in the Neck yesterday evening after an oil stove exploded. The family saved some furniture and furnishings. The isolated location meant no firemen were summoned.
