The Daily Mail reports the Broadway Flower Show awards omitted yesterday list. First prize goes to Charles William Harris fourth grade, second to Bobby Diehl fifth grade, and third to Lois Russell panel grade for the rock gardens noted as one of the show’s most attractive features.
The Grace and Grit Class of St. Paul U B church held its regular quarterly meeting at Mrs Swemly home. Louise Musey led a devotional and the group reported strong nine month gains in enrollment attendance and offerings. Bingo followed with prizes to Clara Musey Blanche Mumma and Frances Turner. Refreshments ended the gathering with many members and several visitors attending.
The cradle roll department at Trinity Lutheran held a large promotion day party with decorations, favors, and refreshments. A program featured songs, recitations, and duets by young graduates led by superintendent Mrs. George Hornbaker and assistants.
One hundred fifty attended the Odd Fellows banquet at the Gilead Encampment No. 6 temple with Hobby Munson and his Night Club Entertainers. Rally Day services are set for Salem A B Sunday School Keedysville at 9 30 A M with Prof H D Strine as speaker. A Child Study Club forms at Howard Street School led by teachers and mothers. Dr Mary Laughlin to speak on Hygiene. Herbert Harp wins a scholarship to Eastman School of Music Rochester NY for 1933 34 after competitive tests.

Mercersburg chapel hosted opening exercises for Mercersburg Academy on Wednesday. Bryan Barker gave a carillon recital and BK Arne Hovdesven played organ prelude. Dr. Boyd Edwards began his sixth year as Head Master and delivered the address.
Miss Rose Baughan entertained the Cheerful Helpers Class of the First Baptist Church at her home at 39 East Avenue Thursday night for the regular monthly meeting. Pink and white refreshments were served. Attendees included Gladys Reed Martha Hoffman Dolores Wageley Elizabeth Adams Helen Cushen Elizabeth Morris Mrs Della Miller Mrs Mary Bard Mrs Pearl Wright Mrs Doris Stitzel Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Paul R. Harman aged 22 of Baltimore and Katharine L. Poole aged 19 of Braddock Heights obtained a marriage license. Deamonde D. Braithwaite 22 and Andra Jane Wyndham 21 from Martinsburg West Virginia also licensed.
Miss Johannah Schuster hosted a farewell party at her home on Virginia Avenue for Horace Jones who departs for Ithaca New York to study medicine at Cornell University next week. Guests included Betsy Schaibley Richard C Medford Marty Beachley Max Estelle Young and others. The event featured supper bridge and a benefit for the Masonic Temple Association with prizes and games starting at eight.

Miss Madge Charles hosted a linen shower on Wednesday evening at Mulberry avenue for Mrs. Raymond Beard formerly Miss Myers Bimith. Pink and white decorations framed bridge and five hundred games with prizes won by Mabe Manahan Mary Beachley Frances Baker and Lorraine Smith. Gifts were presented in a clothes basket and opened for display. Guests included Emma Mobley Edna Lehman Mary Kuhn Irene Miller Catherine Harn Pauline Smith Helen Charles Janet Artz and Mrs. John Charles.
A concert featuring Hagerstown artists is set for next Tuesday September 28 at 7 45 pm in the main auditorium of First Mrethree Church corner Antie tam and Mulberry streets. The program includes organ and piano duet tal trio cello violin and piano accordion pieces and vocal numbers. Sponsored by the Sisterhood of Mary and Martha the public is invited with a silver offering at the door.
Chewsville notes announce Beth el United Brethren church services on Sunday with Sunday school at 9 30 and morning worship at 10 30 including Holy Communion and evening Christian Endeavor.
