U B Conference Opens October 3
The 144th session of the Pennsylvania Annual Conference of the United Brethren Church will convene October 2 to 5 at Centennial Memorial United Brethren Church Frederick. About 200 to 300 delegates from eastern Pennsylvania and districts including Hagerstown Frederick Baltimore and Washington DC are expected. Rev Dr G D Batdorf will preside and Dr John H Ness serves as conference superintendent. Committees meet October 2 to examine admission candidates for the conference and ministry.

Teachers Named By Board Of Education
Seven new teachers were approved by the Board of Education in a session yesterday afternoon. This group plus a few earlier approvals forms the year’s new hires. Transfers were made and the new teachers include Woodmont Thelma Bair Tonoloway primary Edna Collier Williamsport Md Hancock Frances Moore Hancock Howard Street Frederica Angle Hagerstown Smithsburg seventh and eighth grades Richard Martin Smithheburg Surrey Margie Tribby substitute Hagerstown Woodland Way Arthur Dorsey Hagerstown. A resolution was drawn up on the death of Benedict J. Boswell who served on the board seven years and was vice president. The board ordered advertising of several school properties for sale including ground and abandoned buildings. Properties listed include Big Spring Exline Woburn and Mt. Union. PROTEST MILK PRICE The Greencastle Chamber of Commerce passed a resolution protesting the milk price increase in Greencastle within the Philadelphia milk shed the same as Washington County Maryland.
