Baltimore Death Probe Foul Play Seen in Clyde Smith Case
Baltimore reporters say Somerset County officers are investigating the death of Clyde Smith, 35, a World War veteran. His battered body was found in a shack along Teagues Creek in lower Fairmont. A coroner's jury ruled the death a result of foul play after examination showed severe head injuries.

Four Chicagoans were hurt when a sedan driven by Jack Goldberg struck the bridge over Conococheague Creek on Western Pike yesterday afternoon around 3. Mrs Ida Hoffberg, 78, and her son Phil Hoffberg suffered head and body injuries and were hospitalized. Coldberg endured bruises, Louis Hoffberg escaped with minor injuries. brakes failed and excessive speed prevented a safe turn on the bridge. The group was traveling from Chicago to Baltimore. Deputies Cushna and Rickard investigated.
