Schools Open On Schedule For 1937 38 Year
Approximately 14 500 youngsters answered the public school bells in the city and county this morning for the start of the 1937 38 school year. Superintendent B J Grimes announced at noon that all public schools opened as per schedule. Enrollment between 200 and 300 higher is anticipated and crowding in some city grade rooms will be alleviated by transfers. Repairs at the senior high and other schools are complete and property is in sound condition. The board will decide soon on possible early closures for the National Antietam Commemoration and fair grounds attendance.
