Coal Car Fatality At West Lee Street Crossing
Charles Elmer McLucas 65 of 252 South Mulberry street died after being struck by an empty coal car at the West Lee street crossing of the Western Maryland Railway about 6 30 Saturday evening. Witnesses told police the car released from the Leister Coal Company ramp then crossed and McLucas attempted to cross in front of it. The watchman said McLucas stopped but stepped forward again and was fatally struck. He was a night watchman for Potomac Motor Lines, born in Shippensburg, and member of Church of God and Western Enterprise Fire Company. Surviving wife, stepmother, sisters, brothers and half-siblings listed. Body at Suter funeral home. Funeral Wednesday at Church of God at 2 oclock. Burial Rose Hill cemetery.
